PEST MANAGEMENT

What is the Pest Management Program?

The Carteret County Pest Management Program includes two different services, Mosquito Control and Animal Control.

Mosquito Control seeks to prevent the transmission of disease carried by insects (vector born) to humans through education, inspections, surveillance, mapping, and monitoring of known or suspected breeding and harborage places.

Animal Control includes the enforcement of County and State laws regarding domestic animals and rabies control laws and regulations. Citations are given to individuals who let their animals run at large, off their property and without a leash. Trained specialists investigate reports of bites to humans and domestic animals by wild animals known to be carriers for rabies (raccoons and foxes).
