CARTERET
COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
The Board of Health is the policy-making,
rule-making, and adjudicatory body for the Carteret County
Health Department. The members of the Board are appointed
by the county board of commissioners. The board is composed
of 11 members. The composition of the board shall reasonably
reflect the population makeup of the county and shall include:
one physician licensed to practice medicine in NC, one licensed
dentist, one licensed optometrist, one licensed veterinarian,
one registered nurse, one licensed pharmacist, one county
commissioner, one professional engineer, and three representatives
of the general public. All members shall be residents of
the county. Members of the Board of Health shall serve three-year
terms and no member may serve more than three consecutive
three-year terms.
The Carteret County Board of
Health meets monthly in the Health Department Conference
Room. All meetings are announced in advance in the Carteret
News-Times and the Gam. All meetings are open to the public.

Director serves as the Secretary to the Board of Health.
